Introduction

During my internship, I led the EdTech corporate website development for AMD Academy (amdacademy.id). AMD Academy provides professional training and educational programs. The company needed a trustworthy platform to convert visiting students into registered participants. As a WordPress developer intern, I transformed their brand guidelines into a clean web experience using WordPress, Elementor, and custom CSS.

Project Overview

AMD Academy needed an updated corporate platform. The new site had to present their diverse educational programs and training services clearly. Their old layout struggled to communicate course details efficiently. This issue negatively impacted user engagement. As an intern developer, I built and refined key pages. I ensured that program information remained accessible, visually structured, and easy to navigate.

My Role

As the WordPress developer intern, I took hands-on responsibility for building user layouts. I also customized interactive design elements across the platform. I worked closely with the team to understand brand guidelines and user journeys. Using Elementor as my primary page builder, I constructed custom sections and managed site architecture. Additionally, I wrote custom CSS rules whenever default builder widgets fell short of design goals.

Design & Development Process

My workflow followed a structured development pipeline. This approach helped deliver clean code in a team setting.

First, I audited the existing framework to find UI inconsistencies and performance bottlenecks. Working in WordPress, I used Elementor to build intuitive layouts. I prioritized clear typography, readable course descriptions, and prominent call-to-action buttons.

However, relying solely on page builders often creates design limits. To overcome this, I wrote clean custom CSS to refine spacing and create smooth hover effects. Responsive design was another crucial step. I adapted every layout across desktop, tablet, and mobile screens. As a result, students can research programs on any device. Finally, I optimized page load times by minimizing assets before deployment.

Key Features

  • Program Catalog Display: I built grid-based layouts that allow visitors to browse educational courses effortlessly.
  • Mobile-First Responsive Layouts: I ensured all pages adapt smoothly across smart devices, tablets, and desktops.
  • Custom UI Styling: I authored dedicated CSS to enhance interactive elements, buttons, and section cards.
  • User-Centric Navigation: I structured intuitive menu paths to guide prospective students directly toward course enrollment.
  • Performance Tuning: I cleaned up visual components to maintain quick loading times and smooth page transitions.
  • Maintainable Content Architecture: I organized page templates so internal staff could update course details with ease.

Challenges

Executing an EdTech corporate website development project as an intern presented specific technical challenges. Layout consistency and responsive behavior across dense information cards required careful attention. The course listing pages had to display program durations, curriculum highlights, and registration buttons clearly. All of this needed to fit without looking cluttered on small screens.

I resolved this issue by writing custom CSS grid structures and media queries. These scripts dynamically repositioned elements based on screen width. This approach kept card layouts uniform on desktop monitors. Meanwhile, it gracefully stacked content vertically on mobile browsers to preserve readability.

Technologies Used

  • WordPress: Core content management system powering the corporate site.
  • Elementor: Visual builder used to arrange core layout components.
  • Custom CSS: Written to override default builder styles and tweak responsive breakpoints.
  • HTML5: Used to ensure proper semantic structure across custom sections.

Project Outcome

My contributions provided AMD Academy with a polished corporate platform. The new site clearly presents their educational offerings. Enhanced responsive layouts and customized UI styling improved overall navigation. Now, prospective students can easily learn about courses and get in touch. This project allowed me to demonstrate strong technical initiative and practical proficiency with WordPress development.
